Soil Ecology, Soil Contamination and Soil Sciences
Soil ecology is the study of interactions between soil organisms and the biotic and abiotic components of the soil environment. Soil contamination, pollution, or land degradation results from industrial activities, agricultural chemicals, and improper waste disposal, with accidental spills and acid rain also playing a role. Soil science focuses on soil formation, classification, and mapping, as well as the physical, chemical, biological, and fertility properties of soils, and how these properties relate to soil use and management.
